| The Culatello Road |
| Today’s itinerary: the famous road winding its way for almost 100 kilometres through the districts of the Parma Province, between Via Emilia and the Po River. A picturesque land, teeming with history and birthplace of Giuseppe Verdi, always known as the home to two jewels of Italian good food, Culatello and Parmesan cheese. |
|
| Welcome to Zibello! |
From Parma we take the main road nr. 343 going northwards until we reach Colorno and from here, amidst misty countryside, we drive along the Culatello road to Zibello, undisputed kingdom of the masterpiece of Italian cold pork meats. A pause in the Old Town here is a must. After visiting Palazzo Pallavicino we stop at an inn to taste the specialities of this place: apart from Culatello there will be Salame Strolghino, Coppa and Pancetta (bacon). Nor must we miss out on the fresh stuffed pasta: tortelli alle erbette (with herbs), cappelletti al brodo (in broth) and the excellent local wine Fortana del Taro. |

| Villa Gambara in Zibello |
The ancient 17th century building, transformed by Negroni during the 50’s into a true and proper artisan laboratory to produce Culatello, stands right in Zibello. The delicious Culatello di Zibello D.O.P., of which Negroni is the biggest domestic producer, still continue to mature in those cellars today.

| Out to discover Verdi’s birthplace: Busseto |
But let’s continue on our journey. The next stop is Busseto, Giuseppe Verdi’s birthplace, with its theatre and Villa Pallavicino. Going through Soragna we visit the Museo del Parmigiano Reggiano museum, another king of the table with its undisputed dominion established right here.

Stop for a snack. Obviously with Culatello di Zibello!
It’s already time to go back home. But before leaving we must stop to taste – to the honour and glory of these magnificent lands – some slices of Culatello di Zibello from the Negroni selection, accompanied by typical "micca" of local white bread.
